Joanie's Story
I am from Potts Camp, Mississippi. I have been married to Richard Edwards Sr. since 1967. My schools include Rozelle, Bellevue, and Memphis Central High School. I received my B.S. from Lambuth University (Mathematics), a Masters Degree in Math/Statistics from Memphis State, and a Doctorate from The University of Memphis. I was a Math professor at The University of Memphis and Dyersburg State Community College for 14 years and retired in 2013 from The Gibson County Special School District after 22 years as a Math teacher.

s, and swimming in my own pool. I serve as the Chairman of the United Methodist Women for Dyer First United Methodist Church where I also sing in the Chancel Choir. I am the membership chairman for Delta Kappa Gamma International Teacher Sorority and I am also an active member of the Nashville Phi Mu Alumni Association. I also serve as the President of the Gibson County Retired Teachers’ Association. In my spare time I tutor high school juniors and seniors taking the ACT prep.
