Joann's Story
Gosh, how do you write about the last 20 years in a few paragraphs!
After school, I enrolled in college and started working for a commodity brokerage firm in Scottsdale. They continued to promote me up the ladder and paid for me to get my securities license. I was with them for 5 years and then ended up at the Caterpillar Corporation for another 8. (Guess you can say I'm loyal.) Anyway, after our entire Arizona location was laid off they offered me a corporate training position in Nashville which I almost accepted. I'm glad I didn't because right around that time I met my WONDERFUL husband at a church play. He is the most funny and charasmatic person I have ever met and his wisdom is just incredible. Everywhere he has worked, they put him in positions of authority and other companies would try to lure him over to theirs. His logic really goes beyond most folks. I've learned a lot from him. About 8 years ago, we took a big severance package from my company and started a house cleaning business. We have 12 employees right now and are looking for more. We also have expanded into a window cleaning company, tile and grout cleaning and also a carpet cleaning company. We just recently started a hauling business too. I guess you could say we're both entrepreneurs. They don't teach that in high school, but they should! The schools leave out the important stuff you need like financial training, marriage training and preparation for children. Thankfully, there's hope. The Bible is our instruction manual for all of life, not just about those 3 things! We go to a mega church in Arizona (soon to be the biggest church in the SW) and their heart is to help people reach their full destinies, as you know most people don't reach much of their potential at all. We...Expand for more
have been leaders in our church parenting classes and now I teach 1st, 2nd & 3rd grade every Sunday and we're both on the Outreach Team. My husband helps run the the church and has about 20 people working with him and we are both elders of the church.
We also have a 10 year old son named Clayton. He is the light of our life. He is well mannered, smart and talented. We think he's so amazing, as you can tell by all the pictures I posted on him!! He likes learning new things and so we try to let him experience new things to find out what his interests are and to find out what his talents might be. He takes guitar and golf lessons, and is invovled with riding lessons, swimming lessons, baseball and now asked to take saxaphone lessons. I used to play the saxaphone so I guess that's where that comes from! We were home schooling up until this year but our businesses got so busy I wasn't able to give him the full teaching that he needs each day. He's now attending a school at a church in the East Valley.
We live by the Superstition Mountains and are still in Arizona. We ride our quads in the desert and are looking to buy horses. My husband is very outdoorsy so we camp, fish, go to monster truck shows and demolition derbys but he compromises and takes me to museums, operas and galleries that I enjoy. We are so opposite in our tastes!
I can't believe I was able to sum up the last 20 years in these short paragraphs! I admire all of you who have a knack for writing and can remember all the details over the years!
I hope you are all healthy and living beyond your wildest dreams! If not, maybe it's time to change your current way of thinking and do the things you wished you always could have/would have!!! I hope you live your life to the fullest!
Blessings!
