Joanne's Story
Well, where to begin?? After high school I attended and graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a BS in Music Education. I stayed in the Danbury area since I was already working as a church musician, music teacher, music director/accompanist for many area theaters.
I was married in 1984, divorced in 2003, have 2 wonderful children - a son and a daughter. We have gone through the usual menagerie of pets including cats, a dog, gerbils, bugs (my daughter was really into biology when she was younger).
As well as working the jobs listed above I have also accompanied a mystery dinner theater group recently, composed/performed music for several shows, recorded a CD of original music, performed as a solo handbell ringer and given handbell demonstrations at many venues.
I have chaperoned many high school band/chorus trips to Florida and Virginia which brought back memories of OUR trips at WHHS. I have returned to Westconn at times as piano accompanist for the ...Expand for more
Opera Ensemble and for many voice students, have played at the NATS competitions, and accompanied the winner of the Olga Bergzins competition as he presented his concert.
I enjoy watching action/adventure movies (favorites being Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Star Wars - all of them, Harry Potter, Matrix - all of them, The Village, Harrison Ford movies ) and my daughter has gotten me to a few horror flicks, also. My son is the techno guy and has gotten me into this century with computers, ipods, digital cameras, etc. I enjoy reading historical novels - almost anything by James Michener, Jeff Shaara, John Jakes. Also like mysteries - anything by Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy, John Grisham and enjoyed Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.
I look forward to the second half of my life as I continue to count my blessings every day and live the adventure!!
Oh yes - and how can I forget the day that will live in infamy - the Red Sox won the World Series!! woo- hoo!!
