Joanne's Story
Married in 1951 and after raising 4 children. I worked for the Monclair Art Museum for five years 1962-1967. I then started on a path in law working for various attorneys and eventually going back to college and becoming a Paralegal. Using this background worked as an Executive Assistant/Paralegal for an Executive VP attorney in a British Steel Corporation for 13 years.. Subsequently was employed in an Investment and public accounting firm in NYC. installing and operating a Peach Tree Accounting Program for in-house Accounts Receivable, Payable and Job Tracking for 10 years as well as using paralegal skills in related positions
After retirement, I volunteered as a Writer Coach in the Montclair Public School System for four years.
. i have retired as President of AARP West Essex Chapter 131 located at the Montclair Public Library.

erve and not to be Served" in this organization. We have events to inform our members on local, state and national programs and legislation that affects them .and their families. We also have entertainment programs and holiday events.
I find it very rewarding to spend time in volunteer activities in addition to my other interests such as gardening, photography, writing poetry, cooking, dancing , exercising projects in sewing .and other crafts, traveling, theater, concerts. I also enjoy meeting new people who open new horizons and offer different viewpoints. .
I have traveled and been on various cruises but always return to my hometown and my family.As I mature I find that my family is the hub about which everything revolves and take great delight in seeing my children and three grandchildren many times throughout the year and especially at holiday time..
