Joanne's Story
The wildest think I ever did in school was hang around with Rosemary Needler my senior year and sing all the songs from My Fair Lady in Mr. Browning's
class. Fond memories.
My hero was my husband John. He had so much courage and strength. He was a strong leader and loads of fun. He taught me to be strong by watching him overcome obstacles. I miss him a lot.
John was in the Marines when we got married so we lived in Washington State, Camp Pendleton, CA. He got out and we moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and he went to the University of Nebraska (Go Big Red) and received BS in Accounting and Marketing. I received a PHTS degree, mortorboad and all, Putting Hubby Through School. We lived in Lincoln, North Platte, Kearney and York, Nebraska. We moved due to his work. In l995 we moved to St. Louis, Missouri and then to San Antonio, Texas, and then to Mason City, IA.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Rosemary Needler because she was so much fun.
I enjoy watching TV, listening to music and reading books. I loved Harry Potter, also love political intrigue and mysteries.
I am the mothe of 4, three daughters, 1 son. I learned never to throw stones, I lived in a big glass house. I love young people and I think they like me back. Sense of humor is very important. And lots of love.
If I could Mr. Browning and Miss Ensor (Not how come but why) I really liked her and she made me a very good typist.
To be truly happy, I would live in a place where more of my family also lived, and of course John would still be with me. I would just settle for one of my kids to be closer.
My current age is 66. I don't think I ever thought about age that much. I still do...Expand for more
n't. I feel like 18 inside, now when I look in the mirror I'm reminded I am not. (is that a dangling participle?)
It was Robert Wagner and he still does commercials on TV!!!
My best friend was and still is Carol Wagner and I have no idea how she would describe me. Insane comes to mind.
If I dressed like I did 20 years ago, I would split the seams.
My oldest friend, Carol Wagner, although I am one month older then she is, and she never lets me forget it, started St. Andrew's School in the 4th grade and we just became friends very quickly. She came from a cool family that I just loved. I always felt wecome in her home.
I have had a good life and because of John's career we travelled to many places. Hong Kong, Germany, London, Dublin, Accapulco, Hawaii, Spain, Athens, Casa de Campo. Met wonderful people and had lots of laughs, a few hangovers too. The one thing I really miss is not going out and tipping a few and dancing with my husband. A PS to my story, my daughter who moved here to be close to me after John died is moving to New York to be with her husband again, he has been serving in Iraq. since early 2007. I will miss her very much but am glad they will all be one happy family again. I'm even losing the dog Flash, the best Boxer ever born. I keep my mind off the sadness with facebook, Jango-free music and YouTube videos, music, not movies. I have discovered so many artists, Gavin DeGraw, Jason Mraz, Jonathan Butler, Vanessa Carlton, Joss Stone etc etc. I could go on forever. Sia is another jewel. Also 2 million relatives living in Canada. So I can smile a lot through my PC and dance around my computer room listening to great music. More to come. Later
