Joanne's Story
Hi Everyone,
The first few years after High School I worked for the AAA as a switchboard operator.
In l954 I met a young man Jay Harris through a friend. We were married in l954 and during
the next 18 years I had three children. Janice who is now 56, Judy who is now 55, and Jeff
who is now 49.
In 1969 we moved to Phoenix, AZ. Had a nice home and the kids were in school and in l973 Jay and
I were divorced.
I was a single mother with two teenagers and one preteen. I had never worked so had to go and
find a job. I did. My first job w...Expand for more
as with American Bank Stationey, and my second job was with
Central Arizona Project. I worked in the mail room at both jobs.
I am now married to Bill Shields and we live in Glendale, AZ. We are both retired and we are
enjoying our retirement.
My three children producted 7 grandchildren, 6 boys and 1 girl. All the boys who range from
31 to 19 are all out of school. My only granddaughter is 14 and is the 2nd year of High school.
All my grandchildren and families live in AZ.
