Joanne's Story
I am from North Hollywood and now live in Santa Rosa. California. The schools I attended include Grant High School, Madison Junior High School, Monlux Elementary School. I later attended Los
Angeles City College (Nucelar Medicine Technology), UCLA (Ultrasonography). I am now retired.
After high school I wasn’t completely sure what career path I would follow but I exited school 6 months early to earn some money. While waiting for some career inspiration, I went to work at the phone company. In 1971 I went backpacking in Europe for 3 months. I was ready to come home and gladly knew what I was going to persue, career wise. I chose healthcare . I interviewed for a spot at Cedar’s of Lebanon Hospital (the 2 hospitals hadn’t merged as yet) radiology program. I was accepted and so began my healthcare journey . I met my husband there which was the sweetest man ever.
The history of that hospital was so amazing. After 2 years I continued into a Nuclear Medicine program at Saint Joseph medical center in Burbank, where I was born. I really loved everything about Nuclear medicine. I would never have guessed that I’d be fascinated with physics but I couldn’t get enough of it. Then Ultrsonography came along and nobody knew what department it should belong to so we (Nuclear med department) grabbed it. Ultrasound was my favorite modality.

ed in 1976. While we’re no longer married we have remained very close. In fact he and his current wife attended my daughters wedding September 23 2017.
My career at St. Joes continued to grow. I ended up in administration and was responsible for all the imaging departments along with Perinatal Services and medical photography. I remarried in 1989 and had a beautiful baby girl the following year. Her name is Hilda and it suits her. Truly the best thing ever to happen to me.
After 23 years I left Saint Joes and went to work for the radiology group from Huntington Memorial hospital. I managed 5 outpatient imaging centers in and around Pasadena. I continued with healthcare for another 6 years and decided I was done. That’s too long a story.
I have traveled considerably and continued to do so. With my daughter recently married, I’m looking forward to becoming a grandparent. She tolerates me 😜. I’m now retired and living in Santa Rosa next door to Linda Ellison. A 56 year friendship which I cherish.
I’m luncky to say I’m in good health. Had a lumpectomy in 2015 but so far so good. Life is good 🍷
I’m now a joyful grandmother. Quinn was born to my daughter, Hilda and her husband, John. My life is forever changed and the best way possible
Good news’.. Hilda is pregnant again and having a boy who’s name will be August. He’s due in May 🥰
