Joaquin's Story
After visiting my Mom in Florida in 1977, I realized that the sun was for me! So in August of 78 my Dad, Brother and I moved to Hialeah Florida and I¿ve been here ever since. Thankfully my experience as a C.P.R. instructor and E.M.T on the North Bergen Volunteer First Aid Squad helped me get a good job in the first couple of months. I got recertified as a Dade County E.M.T. at Miami-Dade Community College Medical Center Campus and went to work for Pasteur Medical Centers in Hialeah. They had their own private ambulance service and it was a blast working there. After a few years I moved on to two¿way radio work at a local GE two-way radio shop. Radios and electronics have always been my hobby so this was a great experience. ast 15 years I¿ve been working for the fire alarm division of Siemens Building Technologies. Siemens has over 300,000 employees worldwide and is the fourth largest employer in the U.S. My position there is lead project technician. While my primary responsibilities are in the field, my experience allows me to work closely with sales and engineering on new projects, I also get to play instructor when new technicians or contractors come on board. Computers are my other love, which has been a big plus at all the companies I¿ve worked at. I¿ve been tinkering with computers since before the IBM PCs existed. I can program in a few different languages as well as html web pages and I always build and repair my own computers. Check out the web page I created for my Ham Radio club at ac4xq.net with 3 Ws in front, there you can see more pictures of me. So here I am, still in Hialeah. And compared to Jersey, South Florida is paradise.
