Jodie's Story
Life
I have a wonderful son who is 21 and living in Orange County, CA. He attends Cal State Fullerton and has one year left! I have been married and divorced and enjoy my life. Constantly growing and learning. Go to school and am working on my RN license. I live in Las Vegas, NV which is very much like South Orange County if you omit the strip. My Portugese Water Dog has been my constant companion through life, although he finds it to be difficult to be a black dog through the Vegas summers.
School
I would do a lot of it differently if I could but I know it was those experiences that made me who I am today and I'm thankful for those. I often wonder what happened to people I went to high school with... what became of them... and who they are today. Wish we would have stayed in contact.
College
I am in hot pursuit of my RN license. I am currently attending Nevada State College to obtain my BSN. It's tough to work full time, go to school and have a life but everything has a price and I see it as a good investment into my future.
Workplace

scrub nurse in the operating room at one of the major hospitals here in Vegas. Nursing is great because you work three days a week and have a four day weekend - EVERY weekend. Medical is a change for me... I spent 13 years in CA in the advertising/marketing field. It provided for a very nice life, but it encompassed my whole life... every waking moment and all my friends were tied to my success. I did primarily sports marketing and learned to enjoy going to the Duck and Angel games, but I became burned out and realized the REAL things I wanted in life did not have to do with the notariety, money and social status. I like to refer to those days as having a lot of low friends in high places.
So now, I work in the medical field.... a job and a life in exchange for all that I gave up. Not a bad deal really.
Military
The closes I ever got was the Long Beach V.A. during my intership to become a scrub nurse. The medical system for our servicemen is really lacking... the beaurocracy... it's appauling. I don't think they understand the concept of preventative care.
