Joe's Story
Hey everyone, I'm married to Melissa Raskay from Troy, Ohio and live in Isle of Palms, just outside of Charleston, SC. We've been married 16 years and have 2 girls, Lauren 13 and Kelsey 11. I work in Charleston at Roper Hospital as an ER doctor.
After high school, I went to Wright State for 3 years and joined the Beavercreek Volunteer Fire Dept in 75. I became a full time firefighter in 78 working with Dana Brewer and after 3 year went to Miamisburg for 8 more years. I went to Ohio State for Med School and then to Delaware to specialize in Emergency Medicine. We've been in South Carolina since 1995 and in Charleston since 1997.
My wife is Melissa Raskay from Troy and she was a oncology social worker until we moved to Charleston. She also started her own business, Island Designs, making hand painted whimsical ornaments. Her first sales were to coworkers of mine and then a local festival and 4 years later she was selling ornaments to 500 stor...Expand for more
es from the Carribean (I still can't spell) to California and multiple catalogs including Lillian Vernon. Two years ago she said enough and sold the company to her lead painter. No more business trips to Atlanta, New York, Las Vegas or California. We also got our house back as this was a home based business, which started in 1 room and expanded to all but our bedrooms and kitchen. We no longer see the mailman or Jeff from UPS, daily.
Our girls are very different. Lauren is my oldest and just like me, grouchy, not a morning person, introverted and we both see the same ADD doctor. She plays the violin, swims on the local summer team, likes roller coasters and scary movies. Kelsey is just like mom, extroverted, with a lot of friends, wakes up happy. She plays the drums and likes to go to the swim meets to socialize, but does not want to race. She likes the merry go round and does not like scarry movies.
