Joe's Story
After highschool, attended College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland for a year. Moved to San Francisco and tended bar, waited tables, cooked in diners and partied ALOT!
In 1977 joined w/my partner in a restaurant on Castro St. in S.F. (named Welcome Home) and have been there pretty much til now. Spent some time at the house we bought and remodled in Russian River (Guerneville, CA). e had some quite successful shows. The past few years w/the restaurant I haven't had much time to paint, but hope to continue soon - ready to retire from rest. work!
I guess what would suprise people most at a reunion is the fact that I was one of the guys w/the longest hair, and now, what's LEFT of it is buzzed pretty short. I'm not sure if it would suprise people or not that I live in the heart of the Castro? Probably wouldn't suprise ANYONE that I STILL like to party!
