Joe's Story
I sold my business and busines property in Westmont, NJ in the Winter of 1989. Nancy, our children & I moved to Palm City, FL that Summer. I started a new business in boating and have enjoyed the lifestyle ever since as a Yacht Broker and in Yacht Mgt. We have been very happy here living on the water and boating all year around. We have made some great friends here and also through boating and my business. I have enjoyed cruising large yachts from Lake Erie to Maine and Maine to Key West accumulating about 90,000 miles in command of yachts up to 90 ft. Primarily a 54 Offshore on many trips from my dock to Maine & back. Nancy has accompanied me on several trips and we have enjoyed them so much, she is a great first mate and boat operator. She has operated up to a 61 Hatteras CMY and is very humble about her abilities. She is also a very respected teacher and is thinking about retiring, even so she loves the students and they mean a lot to her. Since our children are long grown she really looks forward to being around the children. God has blessed me with a great wife and children, Joe Jr. & Nancy (now married) and a great life here and I try to deserve this with years of charity work and I just retired from a Foundation I chaired for the last 11 years. I miss all of my old friends and classmates and I really enjoyed the 40th Reunion and I look forward to more. I can be reached at jcarrsr at bellsouth.net
Sadly Now I must add that on 19 July 2011 my Sweetheart Nancy died in my arms after losing her battle with breast cancer. It was the very worst day of my life and I will never be the same as long as I live. People try to tell me that it will get better but I know it will not for it gets worse every single day ! I am not able to live & be happy without my Sweetheart for Nancy was my # 1 reason for living. It is now 1 April 2012 and I was right, time has not helped to ease the pain and there is a song lyric by Johnny Mathis that says it best of my feelings " Until the twelfth of Never, I'll still be Loving You"
Now with all of that said and reviewed God has had enough of my self-pity and my praying to die every single night !! So he has changed my future and brought Adriana into my life ! Her oldest child, Francesca, was taught by Nancy in fifth grade and we go to the same church. Adriana and Francesca were at Nancy's Service and we talked and cried together for Adriana loved my Nancy and we saw them a lot at church. She and others saw all the pain in me and they dragged me to events and social outings to try and bring some relief to me. All of a sudden I was looking at Adriana in a whole new way and felt something I tought I would never ever feel again, Love, real Love for the second time in my life ! It is nothing short of a miracle !! She is so compassionate and understanding when I lose it over my pain for losing Nancy, she holds me and gets me through it, she is a wonderful, beautiful person inside and out ! So we are now together and getting married soon and life has a purpose and meaning once again. I really feel that my Nancy had something to do with this and I still miss Her so very, very much every single day !!!! As we continue to plan our wedding and live as a family, Francesca is at UCF and is 21 !! Alessandra 15 and Gabriel 14 live with us and it is like they are as my own children. They are really good at being teenagers LOL but I still insist on standards that they sometimes think are old fashioned, oh well. I also insist on Respect for their Mom which was never there before, not their fault though the X is a total idiot. After we moved in together June 2012 I started rebuilding a sense of Love and Respect in the home and it has worked out well. I also straightened out the X as well we had our serious and very "graphic" conversation and he no longer is a problem, We actually get along now, LOL. The kids use to refuse to see him and I do not interfere for that is there decision. When I threw his cell phones in the trash ( he kept turning them off and on ) and I gave them all new iPhones and they begged us not to give him the phone numbers so we respected their wishes. Life has been great and semi-retirement is really good. I work with a boat buyer now and then but mostly We ride my motorcycle when we can or head off in the RV with the cycle on the electric lift and cruise. God has truly blessed me a second time with another wonderful woman to Love!! Nancy is always on my mind and in our lives and Adriana is such a blessing!! Now it is December 2014 and a lot has happened !! Adriana and I had an Amazing wedding 29 Aug and sadly Her Dad died the next day, he had been ill for several months, we all miss him very much!! I gave Adriana a new home for a wedding present, she almost fainted, I gave her a Wedding Card 2 days before the Wedding and in it was a picture of the house and a key, LOL. I am a little dramatic and all Her family was there when She opened it!! She knew the house we had bid on it but were far apart on price. I let Her think it was over but continued to wear down the seller and he came to my price $100,000 less than what he was asking. So needless to say we are thrilled for it is an amazing custom home in a great gated community that we really love. I just sold Her old house and we settle in January so that takes that off the table and we can concentrate on other things. Once again I pray to God and Thank Him for so much happiness. We are pretty much settled now we took a couple of months to move and I put Her house on the market just before we moved out and it sold in 8 weeks. Now we are looking forward to Christmas and I am enjoying my mostly retired life, I just work with special clients but not often I do not want to be busy with that anymore. I also have my grandchildren that Trina has brought into the world. Lilly will be 2 Jan 29 the and Andrew is 7 months, we just went to his Christening Nov in Atlanta. So that is where we are in life and I Thank God for our health and happiness, God Bless you all!!
Gong into summer 2015 and all is good, Francesca just graduated from UCF with honors 8 May, has a job and has a nice apartment in Orlando and no she does not work for Disney. We hope to get away to NJ this summer for Adriana has family there as well. Celebrating the sale of my last brokerage listing A 50 Post to a client in Texas. I am done with listings, may work with an occasional buyer if it is a good fit. That is to date God bless y'all.
It is with great sadness once again I have lost someone I love, my son Joe Jr. He was 37 years old and I pray that he is now in his Mother's arms. May God Bless you Joe, you will be missed so very much!! I had been an interesting year with Joe's loss, our first Anniversary and all now we just had Thanksgiving at our home and all is good. We still miss Joe and cannot believe it is real but God writes the story we just walk the walk. Getting ready for Christmas and my my Sweetheart is still so very amazing ! Adriana has become my rock and She makes me smile every single day!! My Nancy and Joe are in Heaven and they will be in our hearts forever, May God Bless you all and have a very Merry Christmas !!
Well now it is 2016, I wonder what fun we will have this year, LOL. We had a very good blessed Christmas and it was busy ! I sing in the church choir and we performed Christmas eve midnight mass (only now it is at !0) and Christmas day mass AT 10 am as well. I hope y'all are well and I have a question for you who visit my info here ? how is that nobody leaves a message ? I see a lot of visits ( over a 100 a year) but never hear from anyone ? I am not saying anyone has to, but do not be afraid to reach out...... I enjoy communicating to those who wish to from time to time. God Bless all and I hope Y'all are happy and well. Well now it is May 2016 and life is still great but Adriana's youngest daughter is not happy anymore so she moved out ? The kids today are definitely different, LOL. We are looking forward to summer, Adriana, Gabe and I are doing a road trip and showing Gabe places he has never seen before. We are really looking forward to it. I am still very active and I know because Trina bought me a FITBIT for Christmas and I generally log over 15000 steps a day ðð»ðð» LOL so the old body is still good and well tuned. Well Fall is here and the Summer road trip was amazing, 3000 miles of discovery, exploration and great experiences!! blessed life together. At the end of the Summer I came out of retirement to handle the purchase of used Viking for a client. We are about to Close and then he and his wife, Adriana and I will cruise the vessel to her new home port. It is tough dirty job LOL but somebody has to do it. Her kids are back in school and time pushes on toward those days of empty nest once again for me. I have mixed emotions for Adriana's sake but I must admit I am looking forward to our complete freedom to go and. come as we please. My Trina her husband Stephen and the grandchildren are all doing great and we look forward to a visit soon!! I have also been pushing harder and more intensely at healthy living and an organic lifestyle and it is hard to do but achievable if you are persistent! I also gave up eating sugar and carbs 90% as an experiment and I was surprised at the fact that I lost 16 lbs in a few weeks and feel great. I did not need to lose the weight but I am happy and need to downsize the waist of my wardrobe LOL. Sugar & wheat are NOT your friends ( read "wheat belly, total health" by Dr William Davis) the fda and the gov't have been telling us lies for years!! The real name from the acrynom fda ..... F''''ing deplorable asses!! So wake up and research what you are really eating and feeding your families!!! Well that is it for now, and please Pray that we do not lose the most important election in history and if we have an honest election that murdering, deceiving witch will be gone !! God Bless America and we the people !!! Ok now much has happened since I last updated, we were blessed with an honest election, yeah !!! And Christmas was good, new year and Alessandra moved out, for the 3rd and final time!! LOL. But now she is 18 !! and no one can tell her to follow rules, She really need to mature and learn to respect the fact that age does give you the right to stomp on values, rules and the love offered to her ! now for President Trump, boy that sounds good, if the liberals would get to their jobs and help rebuild our country, we would see much more accomplished. But they still cannot believe after all their stolen votes, dead people and illegals votes that they lost !!! they are special fools, they think because they are thieve, liars and murderers, that everyone must be. God help them on judgement day, you know it is really entertaining to engage them as i have often done at encounters, if you ask them who people like george soros, wayne rathke, bill ayers and jim jones are for example, they almost always look like a deer in the headlights, no idea that these are the liberals manipulators who are trying to destroy our great Nation. Oh well God will deal with all that do harm to others for personal gain!! enough on politics, we are doing really good, Gabriel now has a car and a job, made employee of the month and is becoming a mini-me (that is scary) he eats almost all healthy and gets furious with his father for eating crap and drinking soda. On another note I bought another house for Adriana (for when I am no longer on earth) she cannot handle the big house and wants a smaller place so we found a great home 3/2/2 a mile from where we live it is in a great gated community, with all outside maintenance on the property done by the HOA,, she is not big on the outside maintenance thing. We are going all HGTV on it and will rent it out until she needs it, hopefully in like 20 years or so, LOL!! I still cannot believe I have been so Blessed in one lifetime with two beautiful, amazing and wonderful women, I thank God everyday !! God Bless y'all till next time... So now it is Oct and we just went to St Pete for a mini clss reunion for 65 & 66 some really great people were there and we enjoyed our time together. Hopefully we will get together again soon. There is another all year reunion in Venice , FL in Feb on the 22nd. Marion Tischler is heading it up through classmates. On me life is great we are now looking to sell the rental house LOL. We had many renters interested and two forfeited deposits !! We decided that the rental business is not for us. So we decided to flip houses instead, Adriana will learn enough in the process so that she will be able to do fine when I am gone and it looks like that may be a very long time Thank God. So in the mean time we will have some fun., until next time stay well and God Bless.
It has been a while and life has been busy and Thank God very Blessed! We have moved again due to our home being too large for just the two of us now. We found an amazing home and one that Adriana will be able to stay in after I am called home by God. All the children are doing very well! Our grandchildren are growing and doing very well. My daughter Nancy and her husband of 14 years Stephen are our source for our grandkids and are amazing as parents and life itself. So we are all settled in our new home, I have added my upgrades, one of the most important being my whole house generator and the impact windows, plus a few other things. We Have been very active at our Church and we have run a good pantry and outreach for-the past 3 years. Now I incorporated it and we are a St Vincent de Paul Conference at our Catholic Church. It is really rewarding to feel the way we do when we help a legitimately in need person (some are scammers but I learned quickly how to weed them out). We have a great group of friends and we are very Blessed!!
More to come...........Adriana’s kids are all very different, I am close to Gabe & Michael, I actually raised Gabe, he is a Minnie me lol and a really squared away sailor!. The girls well that is a whole other story, the oldest went round the bend and is liberal, obviously we don’t talk much if at all, the younger one goes hot and cold, one day she loves me the next? Oh well I am who I am and I do not sway from being a very strong Conservative Christian!! We have moved for the last time ever lol to a perfect home, right size, all the right amenities and in a gorgeous safe setting in gated community with actual guards at the gate, I like that. Every single item in the home is new, 100% remodel and upgraded. We came down from over 3600 sq ft to 2400. It is just what we wanted, 3 bedrooms 2 baths, office and Florida room. I did a few things but it did not need much. I had to add the whole house generator and a few other things but it is just what we wanted NO MAINTENANCE. The 2 car garage is a compromise but it is a large garage so it works for me. Poured concrete walls, metal roof and impact windows! Feels really safe. and they do almost all of the maintenance.. Well now I have been here in the Meadows for just over two years and after realizing we had board of directors somewhat similar to our dysfunctional government, I got involved was elected to the board and took down the president from her seat with support from good board members and they then elected me as the new president. I then was given a mess to try and fix! The first thing was an insurance crisis our policy for 832 residences was $400,000 in 2022 and now was proposed to go to $902,000 ??? Our agent of 20 years told us we had no choices only this company responded with a bid?? I will not bore you with so much that then happened but the end was that I engaged another broker and she was amazing and I got a policy for $598,000 Saving over $300,000. I was not alone in this my newly formed team helped with all that was needed! One crisis averted and I called and fired the previous agent, he tried to make excuses? I told him at best he was inept and at worst malfeasant !! So now we move on to align the “ship” and move forward with a great new team! As for Adriana and I we are doing great. The St Vincent de Paul Society that we started almost 5 years ago and that I am still president and she is vp is doing amazing things at our Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Palm City. Adriana is now an integral part of the Church office and we are both confidants to our new Pastor Fr Marty, a great Conservative Priest! Also I just finished my project on Jupiter Island at the ocean front beach house for $1,450,000. In the end I had a top engineer and 12 contractors working for me. I am glad it is finished and it came out amazing!! The owner arrived after being gone for 3 years and loves it. He did not get involved with any choices, he is an old and dear friend and client, and let myself and Adriana make all choices. We gutted the house, made repairs to structure and started from scratch. Four bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths and everything in it was replaced. That is it for now.
