Joe's Story
Joe who is deaf grew up in Silver Springs with his deaf family. He attended Kennedy High School during 1970-1973. He attended and graduated with B.A. from Gallaudet University in Washington DC where he met his wife, Tina Jo Breindel. They moved to Berkeley California to start a publishing business, DawnSignPress, a publisher of American Sign Language (ASL) books and videos for students, parents, children and professionals working with the deaf. . Joe and Tina Jo have one deaf son currently student at Gallaudet University, and hearing twins, Ariel and Beryl, currently attending Torrey Pines High School.
Hearing babies are encouraged to learn Sign Language before they become vocal which increases their mental development.
