Joe's Story
Lost track of most of my High School friends soon after graduation. Things happen. People and interests move on. I sure did so I know the drill. Now through the Internet there is a chance to make some re-connections if only by electronic means. Reach me at coarsegoldkid 'at sign' gmail(dot com) if you care to. I occasionally post videos of my motorcycle adventures on youtube #coarsegoldkid
Motorcycle touring and sport riding are a life long passion. It started in High School. Yes I still play with motorcycles. There are two bikes in my garage right now: a BMW R1200RT and a KTM690 Enduro R. I live in the the best area of California to ride any type of motorcycle. If you ride you need to ride here. Almost no traffic. Foothill roads can't be beat. The mountain trails are the best..
To keep busy isn't hard. In addition to motorcycling I practice yoga 2-3 times a week. Landscaping my yard is a constant chore. 1.25 acres leaves a lot to do. Much of which is feeding deer with expensive plants. Occasionally I exhume boulders to use as native material to construct dry wall terraces. Back breaking stuff. Then there is the mowing season prior to the dry season.
I also volunteer my time with The Stewards of the Sierra National Forest. They battle to keep trails open when so many people want to close them.
I'm interested in environmental issues but I'm not your "tree hugger"...Expand for more
kind of guy. I'm concerned about air and water quality. Sadly Americans that have potable water take it for granted. Everyone should have clean air and clean water. If we make that happen global warming may take care of itself. Enough of the social message. The solar array on our roof produces between 10 and 17 kilowatts per day depending on time of year and other factors. It's a start in the right direction.
I also enjoy watching the wildlife around the house. Hawks, eagles, buzzards, ravens, woodpeckers, owls, and countless colorful little birds. Squirrels, deer, coyotes, foxes, opossums, raccoons, skunks, once in a while a gopher snake and bobcats come around. A mountain lion took my neighbors small dog. Occasionally cattle and horses pass through. Another neighbor seems to attract rattlesnakes. Our outdoor cats must annoy them because I've never seen one on the property.
My wife's name is Juanita. Great gal.
I have two adult children boys. One lives in Montebello and his big brother is in Washington State.
I'm fortunate to have countless friends all over the USA.
Worked in the corporate electronics world for 21 years. Those were hectic times.
Obtained a BS degree in Health Science. Became Board Certified in Prosthetics and Orthotics. Those were serious times.
Moved to the Sierra Foothills near Yosemite National Park and retired in 2005. Now in relaxed times.
