Joe's Story
I still live in Dayton (Miami Twp.), except when I attended OSU in Columbus. Was drafted into the service in 1966, did my basic at Ft. Knox and then spent the balance of my duty at Ft. McPhearson, Georgia, which was actually in the city of Atlanta, as a military policeman. I did attend Dekalb College while in the service majoring in Advertising Design. Upon being discharged from the Army I attended The Dayton Art Institute (when they had a college there) and then back to OSU. I've been married for 44 years to my wife Mary Beth, who is a Julienne grad. We have 4 children ages 43 (Kerry who teaches at UD), 40 (Matthew a department head at a credit union), 31 (Nicholas who does landscaping and handles the social media for a local pub) and 30 (Kimberly who just moved back from San Fransisco and is a grade school teacher). I have 3 grandchildren ages 17 (Morgan), 15 (Jo...Expand for more
rdan) and 4 (Rian). All my children live locally except Matthew who resides in Ft. Collins, Colorado with granddaughter Rian. I spent 16 years working in the commercial interiors business and have been a Realtor for the last 20+ years, most recently with Keller Williams Advantage. We spend our leisure time following UD basketball, we've had season tickets for 44 years, Notre Dame football and we follow my grandson's basketball endeavors with at Alter HS and his AAU teams. He has played AAU basket ball for All Ohio Purple, King James All Stars out of Cleveland and last year with Dayton Metro. Last year they finished 4th nationally out of 120 at the national tournament in Orlando at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. In the spring we travel to the many tournaments he plays in and go to my granddaughters events, she is on the rowing team at Chaminade Julienne HS.
