I was one of those that left Towanda as soon as I could and rarely went or looked back. Don't know what I was chasing or running away from so I can't say whether I caught it or escaped it. Forty years later all I can say is life has been good. I have been blessed well beyond what I deserved. Here's the short version. I left Towanda in 1969, went to school in Philly at Drexel and then Temple. Left school, goofed off, got married, had a daughter, joined the Navy, working as a weather guesser in MA, had a son and another daughter, got a college degree in 1981(yes I realize it took 12 years, nobody knows that better that me), went to work for the post office carrying mail in Camden NJ, accepted a job as a postal inspector and was moved to Fort Worth TX in 1987 (you would too if you were carrying mail in Camden). I worked as a postal inspector in Texas for over 20 years, got divorced, remarried 17 years later, (as one friend put it I really outkicked my punt coverage). I'll let you figure that one out.
