life
born in seattle/lived in highpointprojects westseattle/moved to 6306 39th sw,went to gatewood elementary first and second grade/moved to indiana after the 3rd grade/lived in mooresville indiana, on my moms parents farm, my grandpa joe lane raised chickens and sold vegetables.
on saturdays I would ride in his black 53 plymouth and go throughout the county selling fresh eggs and chickens.Spent one school year 5th grade in franklin indiana, where my mother met her husband Leslie Miller. spent the 6th grade in indianapolis attending lucretia mott school #3 moved back to mooresville on harrison street going to jr high and 9th grade. my 2 sisters mona and susan born here. My brother rod and I moved back to seattle to live with my dad/solomon j guevara, he was married to ann lott, they had 2 daughters Lisa & lori. Anns mom cleo ran cleos apparel in columbia city on rainier ave./lived on holgate street/attended franklin high/always wanted to run cross country, as those were the glory years at franklin with coach ahern.spent my weekend caddying for my dad and his buddys at all the local courses. learned golf at earlington golf course & played many rounds at jefferson park.went to dunlap baptist down by rainier beach./went on active duty, stationed in yokuska japan as a seabee in june 1966 returning home in june 1968/ spent a couple of years on the train crew at the terminal annex post office.lived on capitol hill in several locations with my brother rod for several years. met my wife eileen murphy, who attended holy names. went to north seattle com college for a couple of years in the early 70's.Eileen and i married in 1978 and moved to queenanne hill/worked at virginia mason clinic/hospital from 1974 to 1992..eileen and i have 3 daughters/simone 1978/olivia 1980/camilla 1983..i am a hard core basketball fan[what can you expect from a hoosier] a seattle sonic season ticket holder for 20+ years/section 205 row 1, seat 1 and 2/ i ride my bike every day..
School
started school at highpoint and gatewood elementry thru the 3rd grade in seattle. moved to mooresville indiana for the 4th grade living with my grandparents/the joe lanes/ on route 2 by hadley road taking the school bus to walnut grove/went to franklin and indy for the 5th 6th grade.moved back to mooresville going to the old highschool for jr high, living on harrison street delivering the star newspaper each morning before i went to school/spending the afternoons in my moms car delivering the indianapolis news in the countryside/after the 9th grade i moved to seattle/attending franklin high/talk about culture shock /from a school of 500 to a 10th grade class of 600+ i never really fit in,not graduating with my class 65, but i returned for the extra year/my best/ with the help of don iverson and frank fuji..my only act of rebellion on graduation day when i wore brown and white saddle oxfords to accept my diploma/we were supposed to wear black shoes/ i can still see my dad standing by the stage trying to get me to change to his bl...Expand for more

College
went to north seattle community college 71/74 in youth counseling program.spent most of my time smoking/joking/drinking/partying with my classmates/ a great bunch of people..ricardo swain was my runnin mate his orange vw bug,great buddy
Workplace
first job after getting out of the service in 68 was at the post office at 4th south and lander/the train crew working the graveyard shift as a mailhandler 2 years of smoking and joking ...went to work at vm in 1974 started cleaning the garage, worked in the garage booth with the late great bill randall. went in the clinic building working for dennis odell in general services. two fo my early coworkers,tom watson and john ilich are still there..supervised the garage staff and was the first satelite maintenance person,taking the bus to montlake terrace with my tool belt in hand, also supervisor of courier drivers..invol.ved in all clinic office moves.later moved to hospital engineering where i continued coordinating office moves. my wife eileen murphy worked in medical records..got caught in the 1992 layoff..spent a year or so at home making lunches for my 3 daughters and my wife/mr mom..went to work at carsos pasta making pasta stuffing for a couple of years/then to the plaza park suites for 4 years in hotel maintenance/ i have continued in hotel maintenance at the silver cloud inn for the past years.
Military
joined th navy reserve in high school going to reserve meetings every week down at the reserve center on lake union in seattle wa after unproductive time trying to learn electronics i was 'drafted' into the seabees that was great because you only had to go one meeting a month..went to boot camp summer of 68 in san diego then back for my sr year of high school/left for treasure island 10 days after graduation spending a month in transit barrscks with everyone telling us we were going to vietnam/which i had never heard of/imagine my supprise when i got orders to ACB 1 WPD in yokosuka japan..arrived acb 1 june 66.'coup cleaned for 6 months, then to the heavy garage.i was a lousy mechanic, so i ordered parts.chief arnold was the boss kabina his second in command..my memories have faded over the years..i did go on afloat with beachmasters on the uss alamo, with a driver named cunningham.. remember robert graham, pete duran,sterling russell ramsey,fabien pabelon....i drank tooo much johnny walker black and was always in debt..went home june 68,living in seattle wa
2015.. retired after 15 years at silver cloud lake union...I am a HotRod photographer traveling Washington, Oregon and Cali to photo specific car shows. I have 73,000 photos on my Flickr account. flickr.com/photos/daddio/ or you can google my 'name' bballchico.. I also post photos on the Facebook..i have a couple of groups there..I Photo HotRods and Northwest car photos and post photos in multiple groups there.
I am a lifelong bicycle rider.I have worn Utilikilts for the past 8 years..365 days a year wet of cold I'm still wearing my utilikilt.
