Joel's Story
Life
After Merced High, I went to Brigham Young University, where I graduated in 1998 summa cum laude with a degree in Humanities. I took some time off during college to be a missionary for my church in Las Vegas. I also met my wife Sarah during the summer break of 1995. We got married in December 1995 and are living happily ever after--well, for the most part. :)
After BYU, we packed up and come across the continent to New York City, where I attended NYU Law School, graduating in 2001. I started my law career on the day of the terrorist attacks, September 11, 2001, at an international law firm in midtown Manhattan. An auspicious beginning! ere I was. I also survived the big blackout on the east coast in August 2003, which occured when I was in the middle of a big closing for properties worth roughly $667 million. I can certainly say that I have lived in interesting times! As of now (8/04), I'm still at the same law firm, practicing real estate law.
While I started a legal career, Sarah went to culinary school in Manhattan and I am the wonderful beneficiary of that training. Fortunately, I'm not 300 lbs.
Sarah and I bought our first home in 2003 in Union, New Jersey. We love being homeowners! We have not been able to have children so far, but keep hoping.
We are happy and feel very grateful for a good life and God's generosity to us!
