Joel's Story
Wow!! 60yrs!! I went one year to Fresno JC and got drafted into the Army--served 2 yrs. as a Ranger Airborne in the 11th Airborne and 82nd Airborne. Worked a year and decided to go to BYU. After BYU I got into commercial construction. I got married to Shirley Hays, class of "56" had two boys, and a wonderful marriage for 42yrs and then my wife died. I was blessed a year later to meet a wonderful girl----blind date--invited her to take a ride on my Honda Goldwing to Shaver Lake. We got to know each other over the intercom on the bike and been together ever since. We got married in 5 weeks . Been together 11yrs. We have 9 kids, 23 grand kids, 3 great Grandkids between us and more on the way! I have led an exciting life of adventure in my youthful years. I was a Sky Diver for several years--- made over 1000 parachute jumps-- yeah...Expand for more
, I broke a few things--- but I was having a blast! I'm still kickun!! My wife and I had a ten acre ranch in Sanger area. We raised a few calves and horses, plus everything that goes with a small ranch and a family. My wife and I hunted in Utah, Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico for 23yrs on horse back. I have been riding motorcycles since 1961, in the dirt , on the road, all over the states. My wife, Kris, and I still ride a Honda Goldwing Trike. I retired in 1990 after 33yrs in construction. My wife is a nurse, still working to support the old man! I have lived here in Fresno, Sanger, and currently in Clovis Ca. for the last 33yrs. The Lord has been kind to me and my family all my life. I'm looking forward to our 60th class reunion, my very first, and seeing all the "kids".
