Joelle's Story
Here is a run down of my life. Junior year I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and after 14 years I have become a confident to others our age that are just being diagnosed with the disease. The uncertainty of the disease is what has brought me (along with a lot of life) to the person that I am now. I am married, with two children. A soon to be 8 year old son and got pregnant 2 months after our 10 year reunion with our now 2 year old daughter. After Capital I went to WSU for a year and then got the Lead Teacher position at a dance studio in Seattle. I couldn't turn down that opportunity so I headed there. After more life and a hit-and-run accident (not my fault), I changed my line of work and went into escrow. After 3.5 years of that chaos I decided to go back to school. I am currently a full time student at Argosy University. I have obtained my Associates Degree (with Shoreline C.C.) and will have my Bachelor¿s spring of '09. ully, become the slave of a professor so that I can get my Doctorate. I plan on working in psychological research, since I love statistics and the mind. Mr. Wright would be so proud. I run the After School club program at my son's school. Mainly I am just trying to work on my skills of being a better communicator and a better person. Martin Buber's "I/Thou" concept really put things into perspective for me and I feel that to be myself I need to be able to see things through others eyes and understand that everyone is constantly coming from a different space. That and no one is the same as they were in high school. At least I know I am no where near that person. I have also become quite nihilistic in my thoughts as well. Being that everything we see is a perception based on our own life experiences, then it is impossible for anyone to have the exact same experince, thus reality is not real it is only a consensus.
