Joette's Story
Since graduating from Longwood College in 1968, I have taught High School English in Faitfax County for 40 years, gotten a Master's Degree in education, advised for Herndon HS's nationally award-winning literary magazine, retired in 2009, moved back to the Winchester, VA area where I grew up. My Mom (90 yrs. old) still lives in the house where I grew up, my sister and the rest of my relatives live here as well. I live with my partner and 3 cats and a dog. I have cared for a colony of feral cats for 3 years now. I do not do a lot of physical running around because I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, diabetes and assorted injuries including a torn rotator cuff and bad knees. I took art lessons for several years but my instructor has suffered several strokes and don't know yet if she can continue. I live a quiet, simple life while enjoying the beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains and gorgeous sunsets here. I intend to begin writing.
