John's Story

Life Wow! It's hard to believe that it'll soon be 35 years since GWHS. I still have as much fun as ever and am enjoying living and working in Germany, just outside of Munich. I'm a computer nerd - a dinosaur, actually - a mainframe Assembler programmer. My specialty is large reservation systems and I've worked for Days Inn, TWA, Northwest, American Airlines, Saudi Arabian airlines (lived in Jeddah for 3 and a half years) Mom and my sister still live on the near Westside, and my great-nieces attended GWCS (when they went!) I ended up doing my degree work (most of it) at UT Chattanooga, majoring in viola performance and composition. I also sing now and really have a lot of fun with my music and have actually had a couple of commissioned works which is a kick that you can't b...Expand for more
elieve. While I love the European life-style, it's time to get closer to Mom, who'll be 82 this year. My Dad passed away last June after suffering from Alzheimer's for a number of years, and I just feel a need to be closer. We have an office in Miami to which I hope to be transferred later in the year. Actually due to the wonders of technology, I actuallydo remote working some of the time, and there's no reason not to do so on a more regular basis. I missed the 30 year reunion, but really enjoyed the 20, the picture from which made me look fat - duhhm John - you WERE fat, having gotten up to 225 lbs. Over a year I got down to 150, but now hover around 175, proud that I've mostly been able to keep the weight off. Would love to hear from folks - who's where and doing what? j
