2004-Present Retired due to health and confinement to electric wheelchair. In 1980 I suffered my first heart attack and subsequently suffered 4 more over the following years. After the 5th heart attack, the doctors imbedded a pacer/defibrillator due to my heart no longer able to function properly on its own. A normal heart pumps about 54% to 60% of the blood through your system on each and every beat. My heart function is now at 13%. In 2004 I was diagnosed with 4th stage throat cancer which the doctors weren't sure I would survive. Thanks to God, the doctors were able to use radiation, chemo, and surgery and I've been cancer free for 14 yrs. I lost all my teeth due to the cancer and I'm missing half my neck, ...Expand for more
but I'm alive. Then in 2011, I suffered a stroke on Father's Day. Now, 2011 was going to prove to be another terrible year and 2012 wouldn't be too much better. After my stroke and while I was in rehab, my sister Robin died in her sleep in September just after turning 53 yrs of age. Then the day after Thanksgiving my mother passed. Eight months later in 2012, my father passed. It hasn't been an easy life and it's funny looking back and seeing how carefree everything was when younger and not knowing what was to come over the years. I have my faith in God and I know that He has everything covered. I do believe that I'm still here for some reason that I may never find, but God knows and He will let me know once He takes me home. I do still have problems with remembering things from my past due to the stroke, but I'm working on trying to put things in place that will help. Being here on Classmates is one way to connect with past memories and I hope to be able to do that very thing. God Bless all of you and your families. Hang on to them and love them as it doesn't last forever in this world.
