John (Chip) Berlet
I have such fond memories of so many of you. I am now 70, but still working as an investigative journalist and photographer. On Facebook as "Chip Berlet "" and my edited book recently published by Routledge is :"Trumping Democracy: From Reagan to Alt-Right." It is available online from Amazon and other vendors.
I have been documenting social and political movements that undermine human rights since the the late 1960s. Nevertheless,..I claim both sanity and optimism.
My byline has appeared in scores of publications, including The New York Times, Boston Globe, The Progressive, and Amnesty Now. I have been a guest expert on ABC Nightline, The Today Show, NPR's All Things Considered, Fresh Air with Terry Gross, Democracy Now with Amy Goodman, and many other radio and television programs.

d on the board of the Underground Press Syndicate and was Washington Correspondent for High Times magazine. I juggle being both a progressive Christian and democratic socialist. Today, I write scholarly articles on right-wing social movements including coauthoring the Encyclopedia Judaica Neo-Nazism. I have received awards for my work on behalf of human rights and against racism and bigotry. My critics call me a Stalinist, a CIA agent, a sewer creature, and a slimy character assassin. I claim the first two are false and defamatory, but the last two are protected by the First Amendment. I was a vice-president of the Defending Dissent Foundation and currently am a card carrying member of the ACLU and the National Writers Union.
From 1981 to 2011 I was senior analyst at the progressive human rights think tank Political Research Associates. Their website is a cornucopia of reliable information.
