John's Story
After a less than spectacular semester at Akron U., I was in the submarine navy for seven and a half years working on computers, teaching computers, and scuba diving. After the Navy I ended up writing computer programs for navy surface ships. After transferring from Virginia Beach to San Diego (in 1977) I got married, wrote computer programs during the day, and went to college at night (along with playing softball). I moved to the Washington DC area in 1980 and continued to work for other companies supporting the navy. In 1987 one of my friends and I started our own computer consulting company. to the navy ever since. Along the way I had a daughter (my pride & joy). we took karate lessons together until she went off to college, where she eventually graduated from Towson (not all that far away from her old dad). Now I enjoy touring Asia every opportunity I get. I still visit friends I've made in Japan and Bangkok, but no more visiting Hong Kong due to the latest laws recently passed by China. I love Tokyo the best. I've visited there about three dozen times over the past 12 years and can't wait until my next visit. I retired last May (2021), but continue to work to influence the program I supported before retiring. Now my calendar is clear and I've begun traveling abroad as the countries start to open up to foreign visitors again.
