John's Story
After grad in '76, studied Electrical Engineering at Clemson Univ. Played in Tiger Marching and Concert Bands, Baritone Horn. BS EE in May '81.
Went to work Gen. Dynamics Fort Worth TX, married Patricia Rollins of Greer, SC Aug 1, 1981.
Son Christopher Luke born Jan '83.
Changed to Raytheon Missile Systems, Bristol, TN, Sept '83, IIR Maverick project. Daughter Carrie Elizabeth born May '85, daughter Leslie Leigh, Aug '87. Worked on MS thru UT-Knoxville, part-time adjunct fac NE TN Tech Col 2nd job. Eventually home-schooled children. Attended Gateway Baptist, Bristol, moved to Kingsport and attended Buffalo Ridge Baptist 9 years, teaching SS, AWANA leader, choir, took up Bari Horn again.
Dad passed Sept '92 - colon cancer.
Left Raytheon, June '96, for new company that lasted 4 months - baby tracking system for hospitals. Temp contract microproc for medical laser, Cerokee Med Systems, Bristol.
Jan '97 to Clemmons, NC, Eaton corp - on-board truck computer and satellite and radio systems. Laid off Nov. '99.
Started NCR, Duluth, GA, 29 Feb 2000, RealPrice electronic price label sys engineer. Settled Lawrenceville, GA (all NE suburbs ATL). 5 year...Expand for more
s until program cut back and job eliminated in Dec 2004. During that time, helped start Grace Baptist Church, Dacula, GA - 1 of 2 first deacons, choir, special music (vocal and instrumental), AWANA and Kids 4 Truth director, childrens church director. Luke grad from HS 2001, started Pensacola Christian College (PCC): completed M.Div there July 2009. Carrie grad HS 2003, went to PCC.
Worked ElectroMech Design Engineer, Yale Commercial Locks and HW in Lenoir City, TN (near Knoxville), Sept 2005 to Dec 2006 - still lived in GA. Leslie grad HS 2005, started BJU, Greenville, SC. Luke Grad PCC BA Bible, Pastoral Studies, Dec 2005. Married July 2006, Mandy Rawle of Orlando, FL. Carrie married Ryan Mitchell Tomkins at Grace Baptist Dec 2006 - live in Winder, GA.
Started Flo Healthcare Jan 2007, Elect Design Engr. Current employer: consolidating into Metro, healthcare division, part of Emerson Electric Company, Storage Solutions division (with ClosetMaid).
Leslie, BA Speech Performance, BJU, May 2009. Luke earned M. Div, PCC, July 2009, now asst pastor, Pensalcola Baptist Temple. Luke and Mandy had son Christopher Elliot, Jan 2009 (our first granchild).
