John's Story
Low draft number, joined the Navy, stationed in San Francisco in 1970 aboard USS Coral Sea. Transferred to USS Constellation in San Diego one day before a 9 month Vietnam and far East cruise. Got out of the Navy in San Diego, and enrolled in junior college in La Mesa. Graduated in 3 semesters and tranferred to San Diego State. ment training program for 1 year and began work with American Savings in 1977 as a loan agent. Great job until 1980 when rates went to 19%. Had to do something except collect unemployment, so went to law school until interest rates would come down. Graduated and became licensed in 1984 before rates came down. Self employed attorney for 25 years. We got 2 kids in law school, Pepperdine and Cal Western. Its only money!
