John's Story
After DHS I went to Court Street U aka FCJC (now Mott) and then off to Central Michigan for my BS in Education. Having drawn number 155 in the military lotto I was never called to duty. Spent one year teaching at Port Austin then got a job with a few machine and tool design firms in the Flint area before hiring in at Buick.
I was employed with General Motors for 31 years starting out at Buick Engineering in 1977 in the design group. I was relocated to the Great Lakes Tech Center in Flint as GM reorganized itself in the late 80's. Then my job classification was eliminated I was relocated to the Pontiac Centerpoint Campus in 2002 as the reorganization continued and was assigned to a dimensional engineering group. As the reorganization continued I was relocated to the GM Tech Center in Warren as a dimensional engineer. As GM reduced headcount I was given an new opportunity and moved to the Advanced Vehicle Design Group in March 2008. As GM was still reorganizing and reducing headcount in May I was given the opportunity to retire July 1, 2008.

me with organizations such as the Richfield Twp Planning Commission, Richfield Twp Lions Club, Davison Historical Society, Classic Cruisers Car Cub of Lapeer and the Downtown Davison Cruise not to mention my second career as a slumlord.
I've always had an interest in cars and can be found at the local car shows and cruises with mine. Some of you may remember the TV show 'Mannix' back when we were in high school. I have one of the two cars built by George Barris for the first season of the show. Google 'Mannix Roadster' to see the car way back then.
Some of the other cars that have been or are now parked in my garage: 1969 Corvette (427-435) convertible, 1977 Corvette, 1982 Corvette (with 7,000 actual miles), 1994 Corvette, 2008 Corvette; 1970 Buick Skylark GS Stage 1 4-speed (one of 366), 1986 Buick Regal T-type Designers Edition (1 of 433), 1927 Chevrolet coupe, 1973 Mustang fastback and a convertible, 1981 Buick Riveria, 1968 Chevy pick-up big block, 1994 Caprice ex-Grand Blanc City police car and four Kawasaki triples motorcycles.
See you at the Woodward Dream Cruise.
