Jo Ann's Story
Life
After High School I went to work for General Electric, married and had a beautiful daughter. I left GE in '68. In 1970 I was widowed. (It's very true when God shuts a door he always leaves a window open.) I had became good friends with a couple from church who owned a Mom and Pop flooring business. In 1972 they offered me a part time job which I took. I did this (typing price sheets) for a few months when their sister-in-law and niece had been killed in an auto accident. They left immediately.
I was left in this huge store with not a clue as to how to sell carpet. I learned very quickly.... and from there I went on to open my own store in 1982. I remarried in 1990 to John Croce (the love of my life!) I lived in Bridgeton for 21 years before moving to our new home in O'Fallon, Mo. I retired at the end of 2005. My husband is also retired and would like to do more traveling.....not that we haven't done our fair share already.
Our daughter and son-in-law bought a "fishing cabin" in Sant...Expand for more
a Rosa Beach, FL... yes, right on the gulf..... we spend as much time down there as possible in the winter months. It is sooo neat watching the dolphins jump and playing in the water or walking on the beach when there's 6" of snow on the ground in St. Louis~~ hehehe
Each year they also take us with them on Spring Break to their villa in Cabos San Lucas, Mexico. Its great spending the week with my family being all together.
God has granted us a wonderful life. I have met some great people who gave us some excellent advise. In reading some of the bio's of my other classmates ........ boy haven't we all come a long way from our humble beginnings in Wellston!!
I started helping with multi-class reunions after Reunion 2003. I find it very rewarding bring classmates back together again.
My legacy: I, with the help and knowledge of Bob Haefner '49, reinstated our Flashlight Newsletter. We are able to share and stir memories from the past plus keep everyone updated with current info - monthly.
