TV shows he likes include SPEED, History, Military Channel. One of John's favorite quotes is:"1. Pick one from Thomas Jefferson and it will be worth remembering. 2. "There is little use for the being whose tepid soul knows nothing of the great and generous emotion, of the high pride, the stern belief, the lofty enthusiasm, of the men who quell the storm and ride the thunder." T. Roosevelt 3. "Somewhere a True Believer is training to kill you. He is training with minimum food or water, in austere conditions, day and night. The only thing clean on him is his weapon. He doesn't worry about what workout to do---his rucksack weighs what it weighs, and he runs until the enemy stops chasing him. The True Believer doesn't care 'how hard it is'; he knows he either wins or he dies. He doesn't go home at 1700; he is home. He knows only the 'Cause.' Now, who wants to quit?" NCOIC of the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course in a welcome speech to new SF candidates (Green Berets) 4.Out of a hundred men, ten shouldn't be there and 80 are just targets. Nine are the real fighters, and we are thankful for them because they make the battle. But the one, the one is a warrior and he brings the others back." -Heraclites - 500 BC 5. “When it comes time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home." Chief Aupumut (1725), Mohican. 6. From me: In defense of our Constitution, don't expect me to run from the fight but rather...Expand for more
expect to follow me into into it. Never let down your guard and never, ever give up! Those who fail to see the necessity to for maintaining the greatest military force on the planet also tend to believe in the basic kindness of ALL mankind - failing to believe that more Hitlers, Stalin's, Pol Pot's and many more of their kind are ready to step forward to slaughter many more millions who also trust blindly in the basic good of all mankind. They believe in a myth and have been the basic cause for all those good, peaceful souls who have died in concentration camps and torture chambers throughout history. It's not over - Man has not completely shed his desire for conquest nor have the criminally mentally ill been eradicated. It is still not safe to turn your back to the enemy. He'll just punch holes in it, take what is yours and move on to his next victim. You won't even be remembered by him for the length of time it takes him to pass you by.". More about John:"Me? I'm Don Quixote and the windmills might be wining. Or not.. I own and operate Reliable Firearms & Ammunition in Florence, AZ where I create combat handguns, shotguns and rifles as well as manufacture handgun ammunition for combat and training. I do custom work on a variety of handguns and I manufacture custom M1911A1 .45 Auto combat handguns in several models, one of which has been going almost exclusively to US Army Special Forces Operators. I also rebuild and convert original Winchester Model of 1897 12 ga shotguns bringing them up to US Army specs as M97 Trench Guns. The conversions include tuning the action and re-timing (if necessary, trigger job, 20 inch cyl bore barrel, the barrel heat shield, & bayonet lug, 17 inch M1917 bayonet and the proper M1907 leather sling. NOTE: These are rebuild and conversions of original Winchester Mod. 1897 shotguns and NOT original M97 Trench Guns! Another new conversion I'm doing that is becoming increasingly popular is reconfiguring the Ruger Mini 14 Ranch Rifle to a light weight folding stock Airborne (paratrooper) model including a lightweight, folding bi-pod with an M14 flash suppressor/bayonet lug and other modifications that turn the standard Mini-14 into an outstanding, reliable assault weapon. I also do some general gunsmithing, bladesmithing, knife/bayonet & sword sharpening.".
