John's Story
Life
After high school and a false start at Lawrence University, I enrolled in the architecture school at UW-M and graduated in 1973. Instead of proceeding directly to my Master's program, I took Peace Corps up on their offer to send me to Iran. I trained in Esfahan, Iran and selected the position available there in Esfahan for my two years of service. Contrary to most people's view of Iran, I found it to be a wonderful experience with warm, generous people hosting me in a fascinating environment. in architecture and proceeded immediately to San Francisco after my thesis presentation. I've been living in San Francisco since 1979. I've seen many changes in the City including the devastation of the 1989 earthquake and the fire storms of the Oakland hills two years later. All things considered, even the high cost of housing, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Someday soon I will build a second home in Wine Country and spend time in the country as well. If you find yourself out here in the SF Bay Area, please give me a call....415.751.5717. -JD
