Scott's Story
After the summer of '74, I spent a couple of years in college and dropped out. I worked at Indian Valley Country Club for several years as a cook. I became the Head Chef at Beaver College in 1980. In 1983, I moved to the Washington, DC area and worked as the Assistant Food Service Manager at Georgetown Preparatory School.
In 1984, I quit my job (immediately after our 10 year reunion) and joined the Navy. I thought I would enlist for one tour and see the world. I saw the world all right, I stayed in the Navy for 28 years!
I've served on five aircraft carriers, a Guided M...Expand for more
issile Cruiser, two squadrons, and various shore duty assignments. I've lived overseas in Japan (for three years in Yokosuka) and two years in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. To the best of my recollection, I've been to 28 different countries.
I am currently married to Elizabeth Anne Drenning. Our blended family has five children (Natasha, Alexia, Peter, Nicholas and Ashley) and five grandchildren (Keoki, Andrew, Gabrielle, Lydia, and Delilah).
My wife and I reside in Keystone Heights, FL near Gainesville. I am semi-retired but still work part time for the University of Florida.
