John's Story
Born in Spring Valley. Grew up in Lemon Grove & Jamul. After 7th Grade, my Dad's job was tranferred to Bremerton, WA so we moved there for my 8th & 9th grade years. He regained his job back in San Diego where I attended Crawford HS for my 10th & 1/2 of 11th grades. Moved back to Jamul and transferred to MVHS at mid-term. Nothing like full circle. Graduated from MVHS Class of 1969. Graduated from Grossmont Junior College Class of 1971. Attended SDSU. In 1972, I married Susan Elaine James also from MVHS Class of 1969. Worked two full time jobs. First, in the building materials industry and second, in the insurance & building development field. t on to work for 4 more contractors prior to starting my own firm as a general contractor in 1990. In 1993, I switched gears and re-entered the insurance field and worked as a commercial insurance underwriter until 12/31/2010. Susan passed away on 10/31/2010 from cancer. She was a school nurse practioner for SDUSD. We were married 38 years and had two sons. My first son, Joseph, is 36 and a software developmnent engineer in San Diego. Paul, my first grandson is 2 years-5 months old. My second son, Matthew, is 35 and a professor at USD. He is married. Isaac, my second grandson is 3 months old. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am currently retired and baby sitting my first grandson each weekday at least until he turns 3. Then back to work.....
