John's Story

I am retired and enjoying it. Both of my children live nearby and I have a darling 6 year old granddaughter. Currently divorced and seeking a LTR with the right lady. Just so you may get some perspectives about me, the following is something I threw together about some of the highlights of my life and more…. Most of the info depicts some of the things that I have done and items of interest that will provide snapshots of my life. I was born in Hartford, CT and lived there about 1 ½ years before moving to Cleveland, Ohio. Warrensville Heights and Brecksville are the two suburbs where I lived in the Cleveland area. My mom and dad lived wonderful and enriched lives with a fantastic quality of life. I have one older sister and one younger brother. My favorite subjects in school were Math and Science. My college-board test scores indicated that I was ranked in the 98th and 99th percentile in these areas. I actually used these skills in my career in sales as I sold technical items much of the time. I enjoyed reading WWII history and like some biographies. While growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, I wrestled in high school and enjoyed having my own landscaping business with which I earned enough money to buy my first car – a 62 VW. I played in Little League Baseball – Made All Star catcher one season too. LOL As a Boy Scout, I earned the “Eagle Scout Award” as well as the “God and Country Award’, the two highest awards in scouting. I also served the troop as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, the second highest scout rank in BSA. As my son become of scouting age, I served my church and scouting as a Cub Master for a Cub Scout Pack for 3 years. I moved to Nashville in my senior year of high school and attended Hillsboro High School in Green Hills. A somewhat interesting part of my life as being moved at that time was not my desired path but proved most interesting for me in the long run. Also got me to a much better climate - LOL While attending The University of Memphis, I was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Throughout my membership, the offices I held ranged from Senior Marshall to Parliamentarian. I held more leadership offices than of any other member. More in a 2nd email. With 2 ½ years of college completed, I had been drafted three times (3) so I decided to enlist in the Army. While serving in the Signal Corp in Viet Nam, I oversaw an electronics repair facility which repaired Cryptographic equipment. I spent 18 months in Nam and actually enjoyed the experience as I did not have to go out on patrols or engage the enemy face to face. For this job, I had a “Top Secret” security clearance. I was offered a “direct commission” to Second Lieutenant by the Army if I had continued my military career but I decided to return to college. After my time in the Army, I ret...Expand for more
urned to college at The University of Memphis and graduated with a BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) degree with a double major – Sales Management and Marketing. I graduated with a 3.0 average. As I started my long career in sales, my first job was with 3M Company I held the position of “National Account Manager” and sold overhead projectors and visual aids. Later I sold Microfilming Systems and Document Management Systems and solutions. I have sold office equipment and software B2B for over 30 years. In the later years in sales, I have moved to selling software solutions to corporations. That is a very interesting thing to be doing too. I owned a boat dealership. I sold boats at Nashville Shores Yacht Club and Marina. This was a blast but I had to close the business. I lived in Jackson, Mississippi for six years, Memphis on and off for over 25 years and in Nashville for 5 plus years as well as for one year back in high school days. Actually, if it were not for my children living here in the Memphis area, I prefer Nashville as a place to live and would love to live in Tampa. I moved to Cordova in November, 2011 to be closer to my children and my darling Granddaughter LOVE BOATING !!!!!!!!!!!!!! HI ! Thought I might begin to let you know a bit about me by sending you a poem that I authored some time ago. It is simply an expression of some thoughts I have had for a long time. They still apply and we all know that what is meant to be will be and that which is not certainly should not. Anyhow, here goes: +++++++++ WHAT IS IT THAT I DESIRE TO FIND IN SOMEONE SPECIAL? Tiz fairly often that my mind goes out there to ponder, What someday may become of my life, way out yonder. + For a special someone I may get to know, here is a peek, Into what it is that I do think my mind, heart and soul seek. + A person with whom I can be ever so completely connected, And let my feelings go out to, surely all open, unprotected. + One able to open all doors and take down all of those walls, To share with all that I have inside and respond to my calls. + Some stimulating touches for my body, soul and mind, Those that will easily come to me as truly one of a kind. + Someone I will always deeply know to be there only for me, One who will permit me to freely view their soul, you see. + Someone to bring me passion and that ever so lovely feeling, That brings my body to know it is surely time to go reeling. + A loving person with whom I can naturally communicate, All of our lives this needs to happen, before it gets too late. + One who knows how to make me laugh or bring to me a smile, For that I consider a part that goes well to the very last mile. + That lady who gives me all that she has within her true heart, Most surely as we are together and always as we are apart. +++++++++
