John's Story
Life
I have to admit that life for me really started after I graduated the horror that was Tivy High School. I went to Schreiner College (got my Associates there and was President of my Freshman class & Drama Society). I then transferred to the University of North Texas where I received my BA in Theatre/vocal performance, I even joined a frat there,talk about a shock! After College, I worked & performed with Walt Disney World entertainment in Florida for 2 years. Since then I have done regional, summer stock, & local theatre in Florida, Pittsburgh, Oklahoma and of course Texas. I have done some film & TV, but the stage is my calling.
Past credits include the Regional Premiere of William Finn's A NEW BRAIN, The DFW premiere of PAGAENT, and the Regional Premiere of THE WILD PARTY. It's composer Michael LaChusia came from New York to Dallas to attend a performance. Also was Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma's MAN OF LA MANCHA starring John Wilkerson (frm bway's State fair) and Milena Govich (of TV's RESCUE ME...Expand for more
& the current CONVINCTION on NBC).
I am also the Regional Theatre critic for talkinbroadwaycom, a national theatre website. I'm also the founder/creator of the cult hit website, THE COLUMN. I review broadway, regional, and local theater. I've had the pleasure to interview some of broadway's biggest stars! Such as Chita Rivera, Jarrod Emick, Tom Wopat, Anthony Rapp, Craig Bierko, Christian Campbell, Wilson Cruz, Gary Gulman, and Patrick Cassidy.
Going to New York to see the latest Broadway shows, I've had the great pleasure to meet & chat with alot of stars. Such as Hugh Jackman, John Stamos, Mary Stuart Masterson, Patrick Wilson, Antiono Banderas, Jane Krawkoski, Harvey Fierstein, Toni Collette, Heather Headly, Adam Pascal, Idina Menzel, and many others.
On April 8, 2005 I will be awarded by the University of North Texas the wonderful honor of Theater Alumni of the year.
I currently reside in Dallas. Oddly enough in April 2006 I will again be performing in another production of PAGEANT!
