John's Story
Life
After high school I had no idea what was in store for me. First item on my list was to get my time in the military out of the way. The Belin Wall changed my life. Uncle Sam extended my service time. One thing leat to another and I ended up reenlisting for one more tour. The Berlin Wall, Bay of Pigs, Missiles in Cuba, Vietnam and the boat people all effected my life. As much as Vietnam changed me in later years I would still do it over again b While I was there some other poor smuck didn't have to be there. I wouldn't wish war on anyone. Since WWII nothing has been solve by us going into a county and throwing our weight around. I met some great people in the military. More then I ever met in civilian life after high school. My good times with my comrades in the military make up for the dark days of war. The motto now used by the unit I served in Vietnam with is...Expand for more
"Let No Man Be Left Behind". Too bad civilians can't live by that. When my days here on earth are gone and I am camped at "Fiddlers Green" on my way to hell. I can look back and I know choose the right career after my day after high school

Military
Enter Army in Dec of 58. Should have been discharged in 61 but the soviet put up something called the Berlin Wall. After tours in Greenland, wars games in Alaska, two tours to Germany and of course Vietnam I finally retired in 1979. I have lost more comrades to cancer and agent orange then to hostile action in Vietnam. In 2003 we've lost more to this then the United States have lost in Iraq. Until we were all gone that war will never be over. I've learned in my twenty years in the military there never has a good war nor will there ever be. Dispite what the President say's God does not take sides in war. PEACE
