John's Story
These days I am from San Antonio, Texas. Dan Felix and I took the same plane to USAFA in Jun 1970. After the Academy I got a degree in environmental engineering from Old Dominion University, later certified as an Industrial Hygienist. Spent 35 years in the Air Force with assignments to Turkey, Germany, Washington State, Texas, and Washington DC. Ending in the International department of the School of Aerospace Medicine.
Married good friend and fellow spirit Mical Tally. Divorced amicably and remain friends. Married again in 1983 and have two thoughtful and kind daughters Lindsey (In Ohio) and Langley (with two beautiful kids in MN). Divorced again and remarried in...Expand for more
1995 to Mary Kay Stewart, a teacher and forever resident of San Antonio, TX. Mary Kay’s son Tyler and his wife Ashley live and work in DC. My stepdaughter Meredith now in Boston, forensic psychologist.
I think I have always had a spiritual leaning and now read or listen to Tara Brach, Thomas Merton, Thich Nhat Hanh, Bill Wilson, Richard Rohr, Emerson and Rumi. Ram Dass interesting too. Dan Harris a great meditation facilitator, Ten Percent Happier a recent gift.
I also still take my hoe and weed on the trails, pick up trash, walk the dogs, and write letters the old fashioned way. Oh, I spill paint on canvas too—as an engineer, it usually isn’t pretty. Namaste!
