John's Story
Went to college in Fulton, Missouri then St. Paul, Minnesota. I forfeited one of my nine lives when a hotel I was living in had exploded.
Moved to the Baltimore, D.C. area where I worked as a Creative Director in print advertising.
Bought a home in the area where I wrapped my head around designing and remodeling.
Here, the second of my nine lives was spent after a rollover car accident (they never did find that car battery).
Moved again and have lived in Florida for some 32 years now.
There certainly have been quite a few friends from high school that have been an influence on my current behavior:
Greg Falls was a neighbor back then. There were many times we were involved in some outdoor sport. Doug Conde, Mike Kranish and a fist full of others always gathered to played the sport of the season: football, baseball, golf, tennis, hockey. There also a number of camping trips in Wisconsin and a great roadtrip to Glacier National Park, Montana.
I still make time these days to camp and fish freshwater str...Expand for more
eams.
Kevin Olson was another neighbor. I considered Kevin as one of the most creative individuals I had the pleasure to mix with: animation, model making, film and played a mean guitar.
The music influence has been long lasting. I have a 15 year history in playing, competing and serving as President of Southern United States Pipe Band Association.
What blows was an ear drum....had to give piping up but not without first playing at Rod Stewart's Florida home and one of his concerts. A twist on that was at the time, I was also a Rod Stewart impersonator.
Some good stories there.
This was entertaining for quite a few years until the girls who approached me started saying "I wish my mother was here to meet you!"
Best to give that up too.
I've not been back to Rockford since a year or two after graduation. My parents retired to Williamsburg, Virginia and the rest of our family and relatives have moved on too.
Looking back, Guilford High during those days seemed rather innocent. I enjoyed my time.
