John's Story

1976 WOW 40 years ago....Where do I start....Anxious to strike out on my own, I left Michigan several days before Graduation day and never went to the commencements ceremony. I did my best to keep a low profile in High School and became very involved in my Church at that time. I was in Choir and did the Co-op program working for my Father at our family ACE Hardware store. In 10th grade my sister Terese Hanses was that 1974 Homecoming Queen. I graduated from Barber school in 1977. Back then Saturday Night fever was hot and I wanted to make money doing the popular style cuts for men. By the time the economy tanked in 1981 I decided to enlist in the Navy ...pursuing my Naval career at the Naval School of Health Sciences in San Diego as a surgical technologist. Surprised to graduate at the top of my class and then ultimately being stationed as far as the Chagos Archipelagos Islands halfway around the world in the Indian Ocean for my first tour of 2 years. It was Gilligans Island come true and I loved it. Then I got stationed in San Diego for the rest of my stint in the Navy . I didn't make it through medical school to be a Plastic Surgeon because my math skills were not up to snuff and finances ran out so I went back to Barbering for awhile. Many wonderful relationships came and went in my 20's 30's and 40's and I finally decided to stay single and check out of mainstream society and moved to the Sierra Nevada up in the Mountains near the Tahoe National Forest in North Eastern part of California. Ive never looked back. No...Expand for more
w I'm a self sustaining Organic farmer and much happier. I have 8 acres of land on the top of a little Mountain near a town called Grass Valley. Basically all the Haight Ashbury hippies from San Francisco live in these Mountain towns up here after tiring of a world at War and Chaos in the 60's and 70's. These are some of the finest most respectful and mentally healthy people I have ever met. We help each other out and enjoy the incredible self sustainable lifestyle . This is the best time of my life and I am extremely happy now. I love being a Mountain man, hiking way back in the woods with my two dogs and a backpack. I know every inch of this forest after 14 years of my hermitage and I've met the most amazing people on my adventures. People who have discovered just how beautiful life can be when you depart from mainstream society and get back to the way God intended us to live before Greed and Ego and a corrupt Government took over this great country we call America, Land of the Free. This is what freedom looks like to me now. I pray for Peace and Love to all my old High School mates of 1976. Its seems like a blur to me now however I am still in touch with many of you. FYI if your tired of your old life and ready for your own personal Awakening please Read the Book by Eckart Tolle called "A New Earth" and "The Power of Now". Dare to make the change. One word...Enlightenment !! Remember this.."The Mind believes what YOU tell it" Break Free of your conditioning and Live your own life! Peaceout !! John H Hanses.
