After graduating from high school, I spent three semesters at Stevens before deciding that I really didn't want to be and engineer. I'd been working at Canoe Brook CC during the summer. I thought that being a greens keeper would be fun. I applied to Rutgers and graduated with a BS in plant science. I went to work for Bowling Green Golf Club in Milton, NJ. The course was still under construction when I started. Nine holes were open for play the following spring, and the second nine opened in mid summer. In January of '67 I met Kate Young of Upper Montclair, We were married July 8th, and 49 years later we are still happily married and living in Maine. After another year of two of watching grass grow, it all became rather boring. This was about the time that the environmental movement was beginning.
