Life A few things have changed since I wrote my life story (below). One of my dogs died. She is still missed. Also, we've gotten older. But otherwise, life in New Mexico changes slowly. I am married and have two sons: Leif was born in 1995 and Lance in 1999. My wife, Marion, and I have been married since 1990, so it will be 18 years this September. I've been working at Los Alamos National Lab for the last 14 years or so, but am getting tired of all the scandals and am thinking about other jobs. I do work on computer speech recognition whenever I can. I like the field. I haven't published a lot, but I recently had a paper published in the journal Speech Communication and happy about that. I have fantasies of retiring when I'm 60 but taking visiting positions at research institutes all over the world, particularly Grenoble, Lausanne, and Kyoto.
