Military
After 16.5 years in the newspaper business I decided that I needed to make a difference and start a career that had a future. I enlisted in the National Guard as a 91B (Medical Specialist) in 1995. Upon returning home from Basic and AIT training, I used the EMT-B certification that the Army paid me to get and started working as an Emergency Room Technician, and as an EMT for a Paramedic Service. In 1999 I completed my AA Degree at a community college, and in 2002 finished the Registered Nurse program at the same community college. d a direct commission as a 2LT in the Army Reserve. Currently I belong to a Combat Support Hospital, but I am assigned as the Executive/Medical Officer of an Army Reserve Unit located on the campus of a senior military college. I am due to deploy with my parent unit next year (2008). It is with great pride that I am able to say that I have a son in the U.S. Navy Reserve and a nephew in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Another source of great pride is another nephew that is not in the military but does work for a large military contractor. All three of these young men are patriots and Great Americans.
