John's Story
I did not graduate with the class of 1977. Had to
move the summer between my junior and senior
year - to Plainfield, IL, just a hop, skip and jump South
on Rt. 59.
I have many fond memories of Grant and the friends
I made there. Band, Choir, Musicals, Tennis, and
yes my stellar baseball career (freshman, sophmore
mostly bench and , who can forget, right field!!)
Anyway, I went away to Pharmacy school after
graduation, and have been working at the same
hospital in Joliet, IL for the past 26 years. I have been
working midnights for the past 16 years as it affords me
some time off (7on, 7off schedule).
I have a wonderful wife of 22 years, Mary, and we have 3 sons: Joe, who is in ...Expand for more
his first year of pharmacy school at Butler University (go Dawgs!); Bobby, a sophmore who loves to run track and xc, and Tom, in the 7th
grade, loves his pug and throwing the shot put.
I've continued to stay somewhat musical playing
the baritone for a local community band, and singing
in the church choir ( and cantoring; very scary).
As I (we) approach 50, I still try to get out on the tennis courts, but find that golf is more my speed.
(At least when I'm golfing, my wife doesn't have to worry about that ambulance siren going off.)
I enjoyed re-connecting with some of you at the
25th reunion. It was nice. It was sad to see the names of those who had passed away.
