John's Story

Hey, THANKS for taking the time to check out my story. If you'd like to get in contact with me, feel free to send me an email at jmalitsky at juno dot com. I moved out to Southern California in 1993 to study the Bible after working for 6 years in the Worker's Compensation Industry and obtaining my Master of Science Degree in Connecticut. I then did full time Christian work assisting with a campus ministry for 7.5 years. During that time I was able to travel to Taiwan and Poland on church-related trips. While in Poland I was able to see my relatives who had not seen a Malitsky from the USA since my great grandfather Karl left Poland to come to this country around 1904. It was an exciting reunion! I do thank the Lord Jesus very much for those years, the experiences I had, and the relationships that were built up and continue until today. As far as my job, I'm currently back in the Worker's Comp Industry working as a Claims Adjuster in Southern California. I guess weather was one factor that kept me out here. So. Cal weather is incredible. In the "winter" you can still go outside in shorts and a tee shirt. One of my favorite songs is "It never rains in Southern California." That song is really true. After March or so, you literally don't get any rain until September or October, and even then, it's not much. I do miss the change of seasons that are back in good ole Connecticut. On the other hand, I can do without the earthquakes out here. I've been through about 5 or so and they can be pretty traumatic. I experienced one July of 2008 while working on the 4th floor of a huge 6 story building. The whole thing rocked for about a minute and I thought it was going to cave in. Pretty scary. The first thought that came into my mind was "I'm outta here and moving back to CT." But then it was over, there was no damage(as the buildings out here are made to withstand earthquakes[I guess??] and we all went back to work as usual. On an August 2012 visit back to CT I got to visit with three former EHHS teachers, Mr. A. Ahearn, Mrs. R. O'Dea, and Mr. R. Prior. In June 2013 my dear Mom and youngest sister Kathy came out to visit me and my other sister Mary Beth who lives out here and celebrated my Nephew Mark's high school graduation. We got to have a little "EHHS" reunion with Steve Bellingham who happens to live about a half hour from me out here. We reminised a whole lot. I had forgotten about the 1978 Yankees vs. Red Sox playoff game that Steve had his Dad write h...Expand for more
im a note to get out of school a period early for so he could get home in time to listen to the pregame show on WTIC 1080, "the pulse of New England". LOL!!!! It is awesome and a blessing that I can still be in touch with Steve after all these years. I got to visit Steve and his family again on 11/22/14 and had another great visit reminiscing about the good ole EHHS days. In June 2014 I bought a pet Northern Blue Tongued skink. I uploaded a few pictures of him. He is the next best thing to a puppy, so I named him Pupster. He is extremely tame and an awesome pet. He can tend to hibernate a bit in the Winter months and he'll stay buried under his soil substrate in his aquarium for up to a month. Very easy to care for and a great pet to have! On January 28, 2017 I got to meet Peter Criss, the original drummer in the band Kiss out here in Los Angeles. Peter is a dear believer in the Lord Jesus and it was great to get to meet him 39 years to the day I first saw him in concert 1/27/78. He credited the Lord for helping him get through cancer and be cancer free and I was able to get a few pictures with him that I've uploaded. He was extremely thankful to all of the fans for his success and made sure he gave each fan a big hug. He has a very warm and kind heart. My last trip back to CT was December of 2022. I got to experience a snowfall and it was actually a treat to shovel some snow. The last time I shoveled was about 25-30 years ago. As I get older and experience some health issues and the frailty of life, I appreciate more the message of the Lord Jesus. If you read the Gospels about him, you will see they are clearly historical accounts of the most incredible person who ever lived. He talked about another life, and eternal life that he wants to give us that will never die. He Himself passed through death... and walked back out of it in resurrection. He fully defeated death with his indestructible divine life and He only wants to share that life with us. We can simply open up to Him in prayer and talk to Him, using our own words confessing to Him where we are at, our faults and failures, and asking Him to cleanse us of our sins and impart Himself as the Holy Spirit into us so we can receive Him. I first did this as a child and reaffirmed it when I was 19. When you invite the Lord into your heart, He will bring in a true sense of peace.
