John's Story
Life
After high school, I got my BA at Wabash College, my Master's of Arts in Teaching at Fairleigh-Dickinson, and tried teaching high school for a couple of years. It didn't work out, so I got my Master's in library science at Ball State and went into librarianship. I was a reference librarian at Louisiana State U., instruction librarian at U. of Arkansas, and public services librarian at Lamar University in Orange TX for about four years each, and now I am tenured as Head of Public Services at Texas A&M International...Expand for more
University in Laredo (been here since 1995 when the campus was built).
I haven't played the bassoon much since college, but my singing voice finally finished changing in my mid-twenties and I've been doing musical theater, opera, and chorale (amateur only) steadily since. I've also developed an interest in cactus and xerophytic plants (Google Laredo and you'll see why), and I have a large collection. I write a little scifi/fantasy (only published half a dozen or so short pieces so far) and design and run local RPGs.
