John's Story
Please support my effort to find a cure a cure for childhood cancer. Visit the St Baldrick's Foundation website for more information. Or go to my web page to sponsor my efforts. Please read below for more information about the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
In 1999, a few friends of mine decided it was time to give back to society. They ended up deciding to raise funds for childhood cancer. but how could they raise funds? They decided in solidarity with children going through chemo, we would shave our heads and get sponsors to raise money.
The original idea was to have seventeen guys from (co-workers) each raise $1,000 for shaving their head on March 17, 2000. When all was said and done we raised $104,000 for childhood cancer research. Thus St. Baldrick's was born.
Sine then the St Baldrick's Foundation has raised over $51M, shaving over 72,00 heads, including over 4,000 women at over 1,700 events in 48 states and eighteen countries.

ntry and in fact around the world.
Unfortunately, 160,000 around the world are diagnosed with cancer every year. Only 78% of these children diagnosed will survive. And cancer does not take a break during a recession!!
So we need your help. I will be shaving my head fro the 9th time this year in support of childhood cancer research. I am hoping some of my classmates from the class of 1983 can help me with this fight. Please think about sponsoring me for this year's shave. Or join me in the chair and get your had shaved for a great cause. You will be rewarded with an unbelievable feeling of doing something for kids with cancer.
When my friends started St Baldrick's ten years ago, I had already lost my brother Peter to cancer. I have always said you should think about getting involved because you never know when someone you know will have a child with cancer.
Please, please, please be brave and go bald. Or at least sponsor someone who is. Most importantly THANK YOU for taking the time to read my request.
Don't forget to check out StBaldricks dot ORG on the world wide web.
Thanks again. - John McKenna
