John's Story
I was in Auto Shop I&II. Regretfully, I didn't have my Sr. Pic taken but hey, I probably saved the camera...lol. I am somewhere near the back of the yearbook ('83) in the upper corner stretching my arms out. That pic was taken by the late, great Steve Hardin. RIP, Steve.
Everything happens for a reason. Strong believer in karma. I got lost in Berlin, Germany alone--on foot--and met some very friendly people. This reinforced my belief that there are still nice people out there.
I'm an avid cyclist and can be found most sunny days peddling my way from London, OH to Cincinnati or Dayton and back. Call me crazy, but when the thermometer reads 95 degrees, I'll most likely be doing another 144 mile ride (nicely shaded path, of course). I've done two sunrise-to-sunset rides consisting of 175 miles--solo--as I can't find anyone willing to risk it. Gimme a canoe and I'll probably try to row to Europe...lol.
I went skydiving on my wedding day from 15,...Expand for more
000 feet in Vegas. Like everyone else I've talked to who've jumped before, I can't wait to do it again!
My Bucket List consists of walking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine by time I'm 50. Any takers? Nice way to escape reality from April thru September!
I am currently planning my third annual trip to volunteer in New Orleans helping to rebuild the homes of Hurricane Katrina victims. Still a lot of work to be done! Great people and beautiful city!
Due to the economy, my job has been eliminated. How does one not do cartwheels out the door when your boss gives you a generous check to not return to a job you hate? I'm using this opportunity to go back to school and get my long-overdue degree! Like I said, everything happens for a reason. (It's not the strong who survive, but those who are able to adapt).
UPDATE: We are moving to Ft Myers, Florida on December 1, 2009. I guess I'm getting to old to shovel snow :-)
Keep smiling,
-John
