John's Story
Life
after Rancho I went in to the Army and ended up in Vietnam as a infantryman from 5/67 to 5/68, then I was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas until Sept. of 69. After the army I managed a KFC for 3 years, worked for Pepsi for a year. There a lot of part time work and jr college at Golden West and Orange Coast. In 1975 I moved to Ohio to work with my cousin ended up meeting my wife on a blind date.This year 2009 is our 32nd annversity. I worked for my cousin for ywo years. I moved on to Parker Hannifin for 13 years. Next work was at Dixie -Narco and they made $bill acceptors that are installed in vending.that was 9 years In 1999 I graduated from Lake Erie College with a B.S. In accounting, with night school this only took 15 years. Currently working for the Veterans Admin. I still recall all the good time at Rancho with In some way that was the best time of my life. I enjoy helping other people. April 27 2012 I retired from the Veterans Admin. I'm planning my dream motorcycle trip. from my home here in Ohio first stop Colorado Springs, CO then after my Army reunion on to Raton, NM to see a good friend we were in Nam together. I'll go to Santa Fe, NM, I'll stop in Phoenix AZ, to see another friend. On to Orange County to see my brother up the coast to Georgetown to see my sister Joyce, up to Redding to see the rest of my brothers and sisters. up the ...Expand for more
OR coast to WA state to vist some more friends finally back home to Perry, OH. Lots of sight seeing of places I have always wanted to see mostly historical. my in a couple of years I'll do the East Coast. 2013- Update I retired April 27,2012. july 19 to September 1 went cross country on my Harley, 13 States over 7,770+ miles. major routes or interstates I-70 to Colorado-I-25 to Santa Fe , NM, I-40 to Flagstaff, AZ, rte 17 to Phoenix back to I 40 to Calif.
took PCH to San Jose I- 5 San Francisco then East to George town to see my sister Joyce , then on to Shasta to see Judy, Jerry Jenny I visited with Jay in Garden Grove. I-5 to Federal Way , WA . then back across ID, MT, WY, SD , IA IL, IN, finally back home in Perry ,OH Can't wait to go again . In March 2013 I had back surgery fusion of L-4 & L-5 then in March 2014 I had my right hip replaced God Bless John

I enlisted in Nov 1966
I as with B Co 1 Bn. 8th Inf 4th Inf Div May of 67 to May 68 served in I Drang Valley and Dak To. Lost Some good friends and looking for others from my platoon. Thomas Lee and Ken Pratt. Served 18 months At Fort Hood ,TX with the 2nd. Ar. D. I'm a member of the National 4th Inf. Div. Assoc. ( VP Finance) in the 8th Inf. Regiment Society (Treasured) chapter. also life member in the DAV and commander for the ten years also all elected officer post. and a 15 yr. member in the American Legion.
