John's Story
Following graduation from TUHS in 1960 I attended COS and worked in local area until 1962. Close to being drafted into the Army, I joined the USAF and ended up making a career out of it. I completed my undergraduate studies while I was in the Air Force. I retired in 1985 and took a position with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in Thomasville, GA (near Tallahassee, FL). That is what brought us to Georgia. I retired from FEMA in 2004. My wife and High School sweetheart, nee former Sara Steele(Redwood Grad) retired from the local hospital Dec 2009 where she worked as a Surgical RN. now have 7 grandchildren. Since retirement I enjoy volunteering and spend a lot of time working with the Shriners and the Children's Hospitals. My oldest son is a retired Navy Capt. and Sr. Project Manager at AeroJet/Rocketdyne., in Huntsville, AL. He and wife have 4 children. My youngest son & wife are on faculty at Indiana Univ., and my daughter and family live here in Georgia where she also works at the local hospital. My wife Sara and I celebrated our 59th wedding anniversary in Feb of 2022. In 2013 we purchased a motorhome and started RV'ing the last few years and enjoy traveling throughout the US as long as our health holds out!
