John's Story

I went into the Air Force and was an illustrator. After Basic Training in San Antonio ay Lackland AFB, then I worked first in Michigan, then volunteered to go to Vietnam where I lived for 1 year in Saigon, lost my virginity there then because my Mother was dying of Colon Cancer, I was stationed at Hanscom Air Field in the illustration shop for the rest of my time in the Air Force. My Mother died before I was 21 and left the Air Force to home in Cambridge where my oldest sister Sandra was taking things out of the apartment. I managed to find an apartment but my Sister, her husband and her kids had moved to Gas City, Indiana so I was homeless for a very long time. I finally found another apartment also in Cambridge but my bosses didn’t believe me that I wasn’t a drug user (I had no place to stay, so I sleeping a chair in the apartment not far from Harvard Square. Finally my brother Jimmy was staying at a friend’s home but he couldn’t get any money from the government so he took money he earned and took a bus to Gas City, Indiana and soon after, he married a girl, had kids and the two of THEM now are married with children of their own. My sister Joanne marries a guy she met at the Air Force basehe was at. Divorced and after 2 more husbands, she married a man named Mark but Phil, her Ex. had two more children who also married and had children of their own. Meanwhile, I was living in lots of hotels as I tried to do standup comedy and make some money selling Portraits until I was AGAIN homeless but I met three ...Expand for more
guys who took me to Phoenix House in the city where I lived for over 2 years. It was a drug house where everyone but me were addicted to something! So I moved back home to Cambridge and found a second woman to live with for ten years before I proposed to her (Her name is Ilane Walberg and now, we’re divorced after 24 more years of living with her. I forgot to tell you that after Vietnam, I moved to Japan and met Yuko Matsuda who I was married to for 14 months and she left me. I was homeless once more until I found two jobs that I had to leave. THEN I went to Hanscom. I have since had many jobs, and then now, Ilane told me she was divorcing me after haven lived in 3 places for 3 and a half years. I lived with a Haitian family for a year, and now, I’m in a new house in Methuen, Massachusetts with many credit cards from several different places that help me with my rent here and food, and drinks and I have since gone to several ConVENTions for Ventriloquists like me. I am looking for a new wife whom I WILL live with until the day I die! I’m 69 years old, and went to kindergarten at 6 and a half years old. Now, I intend to have my own wife and family and a house to live in. And I will! Don’t you regret it. Now, I am looking at an acting job. Wish me luck, because I have acted for many years since high school and at the Dramatic Workshop in Greenwich Village, including my own plays I wrote, as well one I did in high school in the summer! I’m still alive and kicking. I’ll tell you more when I get there!
